Climate Analytics is a non-profit organization based in Berlin which brings together interdisciplinary expertise in the scientific and policy aspects of climate change.  Its mission is to develop and support science-based policy to prevent dangerous climate change and thereby enable sustainable development.  Its activities include: synthesizing and advancing scientific knowledge in the area of climate change science, policy and impacts; providing science and policy support to the Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States in international climate negotiations, and the tracking and analysing the effectiveness of national climate policies globally with the Climate Action Tracker.

Science and Impacts Analysis

We work to synthesize and advance scientific knowledge in the area of climate change science, policy and impacts to make it easily accessible for stakeholders in the international climate change arena. This includes conducting our own research (for example, to evaluate the uncertainties in climate science associated with potential mitigation pathways, project sea-level rise or evaluate impacts and risks at different levels of warming) as well as bringing together and communicating the findings of the available scientific literature and providing the context needed to understand their implications.

Climate Policy Analysis

We assess the effectiveness of international strategies and national climate policies, including low carbon development plans, in meeting global climate goals and reducing greenhouse gas emissions whilst meeting sustainable development goals.  We analyze the effectiveness of mitigation pledges made in the UNFCCC process, as well as national policies aimed at mitigation. Our findings are made publically available, which is intended to increase transparency and to encourage countries to make pledges, if they have not yet done so, or to increase their level of national action.
